ABOUT SMUD SKRUD

Dear knitter,

I have knitted for over 30 years, on and off.

With time, knitting has appeared more clearly before my eyes, as the delicate and beautiful act it really is; textile shaping by hands and sticks.

SMUD SKRUD is my tribute to this traditional, both simple and complex, handcraft.

SMUD is a Norwegian rewriting of the English word SMOOTH.

SKRUD is a Norwegian or Norse term pointing to some kind of a sublime or splendid outfit. In my interpretation it is crucial how the one who’s making or wearing it sees it.

SMUD SKRUD might indicate a smooth, splendid outfit of your choice, made by your own hands.

SMUD SKRUD has become a way of creating, shaping and designing knitted garments. I try to make interesting combinations of structures, colours and fits. I hope to inspire knitters, whether it is using my instructions or to make something of their own.

I hope you will join me on my journey.

Warm woolly wishes from Vera
